22 is the deuteragonist of Soul.
Appearance[]
22 is an aqua-colored soul resembling a lightbulb, with purple eyes and eyebrows, a bucktooth, and a tuft of hair. She has no legs, but can form them when she wants to, as she is seen walking and dancing. After going to Earth, 22 ended up in Joe's body, near the end of the climax, 22 went to Earth as her own human, not as Joe.
It's unknown what her human form looks like, it is possibly confirmed that she is a teenager with black hair and blue, aqua and purple streaks.
Personality[]
22 is a negative soul who looks down on Earth. She has learned a lot about it and does not want to go there. However, she helps Joe go back to Earth. She enjoys dancing. after being in Joe's body, she enjoys her first taste of Pepperoni Pizza and Lollipops. She has personality types on her badge, but they are expressed in symbols so you cannot really see them.
Role in the film[]
22 is introduced first when joe goes to the you seminar mentor building, and the male jerry has to grab 22 from the basement. they then go to Dr. Börgenson's life, and joe says that it is not his. so, they change it and 22 sees how bad joe's life is. she is not inspired by anything there, so they go to the hall of everything.
they try multiple activities there, including firefighting, baking, and gymnastics. nothing works. the male jerry comes to take joe to the great beyond, when 22 then says that they should go back and try break dancing. they then go to 22's box home, where she takes joe to the zone. they meet moonwind there, and they find joe's body. then, both 22 and joe jump in, and joe ends up falling in mr. mittens, and 22 goes into joe's body.
from there, they have to find moonwind, so they leave the hospital where they were being kept. moonwind tells them that they need to come back at 6:30. from there, 22 has potential sparks, like eating pizza, smelling, or "jazzing," as she calls it. she even interacts with joe's friends differently, talking to them about something that is not jazz. this surprises joe.
22 rips joe's pants, so they need to go to joe's mother. when they go to joe's mother's, joe needs say the speech, so he makes 22 repeat it. when 22 runs away, and joe chases after her, Terry catches them and brings them back to the great before.
22 actually got her pass from being on earth, and threw it to joe. he then went to earth.
later, moonwind says 22 has become a lost soul, and joe tries to save her. he does, and Terry's trophy is taken away. the last we see of 22 is when she goes into the earth portal heading towards Asia starting her own human life as a Chinese person.
